Summer has been glorious thus far. June was full of gardening and landscaping and July a visit from Tio Allan and LOTS of beach time. It was great to have Allan up. He thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing Duluth, the Boundary Waters, Ely, the Alpine Twister at Spirit Mountain, smores, the Twins and their new stadium, New Richmond, WI and the list goes on…
This July was the second ever summer (in 137 of recorded history) that the high was above 70 everyday. I guess we are making up for last year’s attempt at a pitiful summer. Looking at my notes I guess I didn’t ever talk about the chicken pox over the Spring. At this point not much to say- the kids got the naturally (after a few direct exposures) and the only one (we tried purposefully for a large handful of families who wanted the natural immunity) that got them from the kids was a vaccinated one. Go figure. They are in the past and if I had to do it again (as opposed to getting the vaccine for them), I would. Tea tree oil, baking soda, popsicles, homeopathics and mama milks go a long way I guess.
Quick Kiera update:
Why doesn’t my car seat have a cell phone holder? (June 2010)
We just rearranged her room to make her books and dresser more accessible. She is so very independent and continues to enjoy picking out her outfits in the am. She is grooving on beach time, loving cinnamon, carrots, and almond milk these days. I think she is starting to realize that sassy talk doesn’t get her what she wants as she is exploring other ways of vocalizing her desires:) When we were coming back from dropping Tio off at the airport in the cities she insisted on staying awake the whole ride back home. Her head bobbed as she tried to stay awake and insisted that she wasn’t tired! It wasn’t until she saw the city lights that she exclaimed “Good night Duluth, I missed you, MWWAH!” and proceeded to pass out almost instantly. Although she loves to be away at new places she also has a “homebody” quality to her as well.
Sully:
Sully is so stinkin’ cute. We had a bbq at our place beginning of July with Marv and Joanne and Mark and Jackie- Sully insisted on walking around the circle seeing if anyone wanted her chewed on piece of watermelon. His face had a layer of watermelon stick covered by dirt from his favorite digging stop (his plastic turtle) followed by some more juice. He is a giver and a lover. Although the sibling rivalry thing is just getting started- it is clear that they both have a deep love for each other. To date he can say mama, papa, hi, bye, beau beau, puppy, and boat. He got his first haricut at Zannie’s house (7-17). It took some bribery of pickles, watermelon, and marshmellows- but Martin got the job done! Sully loves to tinker with things- I think he takes after his Papa and Grandpa:) Berries, cooked beans and green smoothies are top food picks on his list.
I start grad school in less that a month (eek!) and Martin of course is busy plugging away with 3FIVE. Our garden is taking shape nicely and I have far surpassed my desire for “just one head of lettuce”. All is well on the Sawinski front.
