Jello, brownies, booby traps, and Moonlight

We had a great weekend filled with family, laughter, hugs, and long naps. As things look thus far, we will indeed have a brown Christmas. Today it was 41. 41 on December 18?!?!

Before heading off to Zannie’s house, Kiera and Sully had their last ice skating lesson.

We were able to visit our Bloomer friends. Here are Kiera and Liona before heading outside to play.

Kiera proud of the birthday cake she decorated for Papa. “I’m the cake boss!” She was introduced to the Home Alone series. She thought all the booby traps scenes were hilarious. We watched Home Alone 3 on Thursday night. Friday night Tom came home and was so excited to show Kiera that she would now have all three of them to watch. New Christmas tradition? I think so!

“Ney ney paint my “no (toe) nails”. Another classic Sully quote of the weekend. “I’ve got a bunch in mine butt!” (A two year olds version of wedgie)

We left late Saturday to make it back for the UUCD church in the morning. Here are Kiera and her friend Anna after singing Moonlight for the UUCD Winter Solstice service

In the spirit.

Sully here eating his rice with ketchup and mustard and drinking almond milk. He was elated with himself that he figured out how to make the stool his chair and table.

Sweet friends Kiera and Ella playing kitty. Ella insisted on me taking a picture of her eating her “kitty food” (oysters). We are lucky to have such good friends in our lives!

Rockin’ Mama Lindsey, Ailee, Kiera, Sully, and Ella dying Christmas eggs. It was a great day with great friends.

Sully didn’t have an interest in simply dying the eggs. He kept asking to crack them. “I track (crack) them now Mama?” The byproduct of a curious two year old mind and a spoon:)

“It’s beep horking at me!”

The kids and I ran out this morning in a sloppy icey mess to get white eggs to color with crayons and then dip in green and red food coloring. Upon returning home, I went inside as Sully likes to get out of the car by himself. By the time I was going to come out again, he had already shut the door. I clicked the key fab twice and the car then honked as a signal that it was locked. Sully squealed in glee, “It’s horking at me!” He had a puzzled look on his face, so I honked it again. He attempted to say the word “honking” again, paused, and then proceeded to to say “It’s beep horking at me!” He was elated that his car was talking to him.

Lots of pictures of the kids, so I was compelled to take a picture of me. First take. Here I am, one class (tonight) away from completing 40 of my 60 grad school credits. I have 3 classes in the spring, summer off, 3 in the fall, and then internship Spring 2013. Time is flying. I stayed up until 2am putting together a video of our Costa Rica and Honduras trip.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

It is indeed the most wonderful time of the year. Today was filled with gift shopping. Here the kids are at Dewitt Seitz building. A quick stop at the candy shop behind them was in order. Sully chose a little chocolate angel and Kiera chose a cotton candy candy cane.

The kids heading down to our chiropractor appointment. Lots of goofy rain and drizzle today but NO snow. I wore my long down coat all day in anticipation of a good snow storm… It didn’t work:(

On Sully’s mind: When we snuggle at night Sully always says “Let’s talk bout sumpting (something)”. Perhaps a stall tactic to delay the inevitable of going to bed, but it is sure dang cute and I savor the quiet moments I share with him at night (when I am not at school). Tonight he wanted to talk about  “fisheses” (yes, plural), “building cities out of blocks” (not sure where that one came from), and “bears”. He has enjoyed all the Christmas music. When he hears a song he recognizes he shouts, “Hey, I member this movie!” He asked Santa for a heditoper (helicopter). He is also really digging dragons that hoot (shoot) fire, bobots (robots), pidates (pirates), tars (cars) and Toy Story 3 (specifically Woody and Buzz).

On Kiera’s mind tonight: how grateful she was for her warm bed and good food (she clarified that she meant the kind of food that you eat). Kiera was very flustered when trying to think of something to ask Santa for. I told her it didn’t have to be a thing— she settled on asking Santa for her Great Grandma Ellen to be able to walk again. She is digging fairies and art. Kiera below at the Nutcracker Ballet with our friend Roger.

Cousin lovin’

According to Sully:

“Baby Nat, Sully, and Teera”

It looks like wordpress finally fixed a crashing bug so I am now able to do updates from my phone— brilliant! Here is Natalie, Sully, and Kiera after celebrating Nat’s 2nd birthday. So special.
