Our lovely beach in Duluth. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with it! There is water AND sand— sun and warmth you ask? Well, that will happen in 5 months… which I think explains our drive to head south!

Life always changes, but thus far here are our plans for our first family trip to Central America.
We will be arriving in Costa Rica mid day on March 11th. Spending time with Martin’s host families, exploring Martin’s favorite locations, heading to the coast, and soaking up our time is on our agenda. From there we will hop on a plane to Guatemala City on April 2nd (yes… my 25th birthday!) We will probably spend one full day in Antigua visiting the school were I taught at back in 2003, visiting some old friends, and buying beautiful indigenous works of art. On the 4th we will head to Copan Ruinas, Honduras via a shuttle bus and spend a week or so in Copan and on the coffee farm with the beautiful people there. A week or so will be spent on the Carribean island Roatan visiting our good friend Courtney and her daughter Danika from Duluth. Some time mid trip will be spent in San Pedro Sula before our departure date on April 22nd.
Our hearts and minds are open for a fantastic and amazing trip. Although Martin and I are more accustomed to traveling sans a child, we are both looking forward to our first of many Sawinski Family travel adventures!
Although packing hasn’t begun yet (I wouldn’t consider this last minute… not yet at least!) we will just be bringing two small backpacks with limited clothing and lots of gear for the beach!
We will keep you all informed of our journey, one country at a time.
